Common Questions

Questions We Often Hear

Do I need a will if I already have family to manage my estate?
A will makes your specific wishes legally clear and removes uncertainty for those you leave behind. Without one, distribution follows statutory rules under Malaysian law, which may not reflect your intentions — and can lead to delays or disagreements among family members.
How long does probate take in Malaysia?
Straightforward applications can take four to eight months from filing. More complex estates, or those where disputes arise, may take longer. We keep you updated at every stage and explain the reasons for any delays in plain terms.
Can Warisan assist with Muslim inheritance (Faraid) matters?
Yes. We work alongside qualified Syariah practitioners when Faraid distribution applies, ensuring that both civil and Syariah requirements are properly addressed. We will explain how the two frameworks interact and what it means for your estate.
What documents do I need to bring for the first meeting?
For a will advisory, simply your MyKad and a rough idea of your assets and intended beneficiaries. For estate administration or probate, the deceased's MyKad and death certificate are a good starting point — we will guide you on any further documents once we understand your situation.
Are your fees fixed, and what is included?
Our fees are transparent and quoted before any work begins. Will preparation starts from RM 560, estate administration from RM 960, and grant of probate assistance from RM 1,320. Each package includes all preparation, advice, and liaison relevant to the scope — we outline exactly what is covered during the initial consultation.
How is my family's information kept private?
All information shared with us is held under strict professional confidentiality. We only disclose details to the courts, statutory bodies, or other parties where legally necessary and with your knowledge. Our data practices comply with the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
